US Smash Set for 2026 Return as WTT Expands in Greater Los Angeles
Marty Supreme, the LA28 Olympics, and table tennis growth create new wave of popularity on American soil
The opportunity to grow table tennis has never been stronger. With the buzz around Marty Supreme and the upcoming LA28 Olympics, Los Angeles has become one of the epicenters for the newest rise of table tennis.
World Table Tennis (WTT) aims to capitalize on the buzz by bringing the next phase of the successful US Smash to the Greater Los Angeles area from June 26 to July 5, 2026, at the Ontario Convention Center.
The second iteration follows a successful inaugural US Smash 2025 in Las Vegas. This was the first-ever WTT Grand Smash event held in the Americas. It featured top players from across the world competing to win one of the sport’s world-class tournaments. The Grand Smash event is the highest tier on the WTT Series calendar and the 2026 edition will have the highest ranking points and prize money.

“The response to US Smash in 2025 showed us what’s possible in the United States,” said WTT Chief Executive Officer Steve Dainton. “Bringing the event into the Los Angeles region aligns with the next phase of growth. With LA28 approaching, this is about ensuring table tennis is part of the broader sporting narrative in the years leading into the Games.”
This strategic move by the WTT will set the stage for table tennis in Los Angeles with LA28 becoming a major focal point for the sport. The Olympics is arguably the biggest opportunity for table tennis to grow its global presence and the WTT is ready for the spotlight.
