North America's Top National Teams Compete in FIP 2026 North American Qualifiers

While so much time is spent talking about padel in the U.S., the focus shifted to Canada this past weekend as it continues to grow as a future padel powerhouse.

The FIP World Cup Qatar 2026 North American Qualifiers made headlines as the event debuted for the first-time in Canada. Organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP) in collaboration with Padel Association of Canada, the tournament brought together North America's best athletes as they competed for a place at the FIP World Cup Qatar 2026, to be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 2–7, 2026.

"The growth of padel in Canada and across North America has been truly remarkable. Bringing the North American Qualifiers to Toronto provided the Canadian padel community with the opportunity to experience world-class competition firsthand and demonstrated the incredible momentum the sport continues to build throughout the region," said Nancy Malone, President of the Padel Association of Canada.

Even a couple years ago, Canada may not have been the top choice to host such a prestigious event. That’s all changed with the emergence of new clubs, led by The District Padel & Pickleball Club, who hosted the tournament. 

"It was an incredible honour for The District to welcome the athletes, coaches, officials and fans for such an important international event in our club" said Daniela Varas, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at The District. “Bringing world-class competition to Canada helps inspire new players, strengthen our community, and accelerate the continued development of the sport at all levels.”

It may be time to start talking about how padel isn’t just becoming an emerging sport in the U.S., but in North America as a whole. Canada is proving to be the next great padel opportunity, and clubs like The District are making the most of it.
