The Winston-Salem Open Secures Top-20 Player Luciano Darderi
The tournament's 15th year marks major milestone and highlights its success as a premier ATP 250 in the U.S.
In a time when smaller tournaments are feeling the pressure, the Winston-Salem Open is thriving with top-tier players and an amazing fan experience.
The tournament continues its momentum for the 15th anniversary confirming that top-20 player Luciano Darderi will play at the Wake Forest University Tennis Complex this year.
“For 14 years, the Winston-Salem Open has showcased many of the sport’s biggest champions and rising stars before their breakthrough on the global stage,” said Tournament Director Jeff Ryan. “We’re continuing this tradition with the return of top-20 player Luciano Darderi, whose early commitment is a testament to the strength of this event and the Winston-Salem community.”
The news comes as the 24-year-old Darderi had the biggest win of his career at the Italian Open to upset World No. 3 Alex Zverev. In his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal, Darderi beat Rafael Jodar and continued his fairytale run into the semifinals.
“The Winston-Salem Open is a tournament I always enjoy coming back to,” said Luciano Darderi. “The fans, the community, and the atmosphere make it one of my favorite weeks on tour.”

Over the years, the Winston-Salem Open has attracted top players like Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe, and Jack Draper in the earlier parts of their careers. It’s a unique tournament that gives fans up-close and personal access to the future stars of the game.
Tickets for the tournament are now on sale with fans from across the region looking forward to checking out the tennis from August 22-29.
